TIPS FOR A HEALTHIER LAWN Grass needs oxygen to thrive and if the soil is saturated with water, the turf will begin to thin out and promote the intrusion of carpet grass, dollar weed and nut sedge. Carpet grass: Turn these irrigation zones off to allow turf to dry out. Reduce irrigation time further. Dollar weed: Turn these irrigation zones off to allow turf to dry out. Reduce irrigation time further. Nut sedge: Turn these irrigation zones off to allow turf to dry out. Reduce irrigation time further. Crab grass: Proliferates in drought and chinch bug damaged areas. Maintain 100 percent irrigation coverage during times of drought. Crab grass is hard to control with the loss of ASULOX*. Bermuda grass: Maintain 100 percent irrigation coverage during times of drought. It is also uncontrollable in St. Augustine. Beggar weed: Maintain 100 percent irrigation coverage during times of drought. Oxalis: (small clover like leaf with yellow flowers) The normal weed present in February and March thrives on moisture but will die out with frequent mowing and temperatures above 80 degrees. Note: Following these guidelines will give you a healthier and minimally weed free lawn throughout the year. Also, you will help keep excessive use of pesticides out of the environment. *trademark (Rhone-Poulenc)
